A set of methods that permit, control, and certify the computer network optimal performance levels is known as network performance parameters. In general, the system of network performance provides regular observation for the performance quality and the service of the network device. The computer performance metrics consists of latency, throughput, scalability, compression ratio, speed, etc. Below, we have listed the factors which affect computer network performance.

The device factors include effectiveness, network blockages, scalability, and reliability. What are the high network performance parameters?

  • Latency
    • During the packet transmission, the packets may take time to reach the receiver due to long queues. In addition, extra latency leave to the applications i.e., online gaming and VOIP
  • Packet Loss
    • Due to some network blockage, the network might take time to deliver the packets in the transmission process. Then, the receiver may request for the retransmission and it results in the collapse of the blockage
  • Out of Order Delivery
    • While transferring the related packets over the network, various packets may obtain various routes, and all those packets result in various delays. Due to this delay, the order of the packets may change. To solve this issue, particular protocols are essential to rearrange the order of the packets. This reordering process may involve some additional buffering along with the packet delay variation and the latency
  • Errors
    • In wireless communication and long copper wires, the packets are infected and that leads to bit errors due to the interference and noise. After this process, the receiver should address all these errors and request the retransmission
  • Packet Delay Variation
    • Due to various delays, the packets may attain their destination after a long time. The receiver absorbs the delay variation to increase the whole latency in the network projects. The packet delay may expand with the queues and the path among the sender and the receiver and this varies according to the position of the queues.
  • Goodput
    • The real-time multimedia services are very low because the various users are sharing the network from the same source
