HOW TO IMPORT MIXIM PACKAGES IN OMNET++

To import MIXIM Packages in Omnet++ tool , in this page we have explained  about the 1. The MiXiM Framework stands for Modeling of cross-layer and cross-phenomenon protocols for wireless and mobile networks in OMNeT++. It’s a simulation tool specifically made for OMNeT++ that focuses on modeling wireless and mobile networks. This framework is especially effective for simulating low-power wireless networks like wireless sensor networks (WSNs), body area networks (BANs), and mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). MiXiM offers comprehensive models for wireless communication, covering aspects like radio wave propagation, antenna features, and interference. Additionally, it includes various protocol models for the MAC, network, and application layers, allowing researchers to simulate and assess the performance of different network protocols in realistic scenarios.

2.OMNET++ 4.2 Installation:

Framework importation:

  1. Open the OMNET++ IDE:

2.Download the MiXiM Framework:

Next, we need to download the MiXiM Framework version 2.3 from the below link.

3.Import Framework in Omnet++:

Next, we need to import the INET Framework in the OMNET++ IDE. First of all, Click File button at the top of the Omnet++ IDE, you can see the Import Option in the File Dialog and Click it.

Then Click General option and you can see the dropdown option, then click Existing Projects into Workspace and Finally Click Next Button to proceed to next process.

Here, we need to import MiXiM Framework for Import Options and Click the Select archive file option, browse to the MiXiM Framework Downloaded File and Click Finish Button to complete the MiXiM Framework Import Process.

Here, you can see the MiXiM Framework Imported Successfully as “MiXiM” folder in the OMNET++ IDE.

4.MiXiM Building Process:

Next, we need to build the MiXiM related folders to make MiXiM Framework to work in the OMNET++ 4.2 IDE. Right Click the MiXiM folders and Click the Build Project Option to build the MiXiM Framework.

Here We successfully built and imported the MiXiM Framework in the OMNET++ IDE.

5.Executing the Example MiXiM Framework Program:

Then we need to run the Example MiXiM Framework program to view output of the program. Firstly, we need to locate to the “/MiXiM/examples/WSNRouting” to find the example program in the MiXiM Folder.

Next click the “omnetpp.ini” file and Configuration of the example MiXiM Program.

Next, Right Click the omnetpp.ini file, click the Run As and then Click the OMNeT++ Simulation.

If you got any prompt, then Click the OK button to build and Simulate the Example program.

Click the Any Configuration in the Omnet++ Ide to select the Configuration for the Example Program Simulation.
